DigiFAB@UHcoA
The Digital Fabrication seminar (DigiFAB) combines cutting edge technology with a design-build instructional format. From objects to environments, the seminar has produced temporary and permanent installations that seek to develop intelligent building components and systems. Houston has a vast light-industrial manufacturing community that we have tapped in order to push the envelope of our work to fabricate large-scale assemblies of parts extracted from the student’s digital models. We are currently exploring how to make building modules more sustainable via the accuracy and efficiency that digital fabrication affords. Non-standard construction and complex geometries can be scaled up and realized through a rigorous understanding of materials and their fabrication techniques.
